For a long period of time, residents of Madaripur demands to award posthumously Ekushey Padal to artist Kazi Anower Hossain for his unique works. Civil society, journalists, teachers, public representatives, administration and cultural personalities were active in this demand. Later an application was filed for & on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner of Madaripur District to select the artist for the prestigious award for his contribution to art and culture. Finally in 2016, the government of Bangladesh selected Kazi Anower Hossian for posthumously Ekushey Padak and people of Madaripur and family members of the artist are thankful to the then Prime Minister Minister Sheikh Hasina considering this request.
Kazi Anowar Hossain was a Bangladeshi painter who was very well known for his classical portrayal of rural Bengal. His drawings were displayed in over 22 solo and joint exhibitions at home and abroad. Hossain had created more than 2,000 pieces of paintings. His artworks are kept at the Bangladesh National Museum, National Art Gallery, Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat and different art galleries in the country. He has been awarded the posthumously Ekushey Medal in 2016 by Bangladesh government for his diversified works.
